Elim High School Tragedy

Hey team,
This week has been one that will not quickly be forgotten in the Elim family in this nation.

While this tragedy happened in the opposite end of our country, it happened in our family, and in some measure we all feel it, and feel for the terrible loss of those involved. As Pastor Luke Brough said to TV3 interviewer John Campbell, being Christian does not inoculate us from suffering and loss in the world, but it does arm us with a faith that gives strength and hope. While we mourn the loss of these wonderful kids and their teacher, we take comfort in that we know where they are, we know how they are, and we know there will be a great reunion one day.
The great Christian Dr Lymann Abott wrote the following when he was 80 years old: "I enjoy my home, my friends, my life. I shall be sorry to part from them. But I have always stood in the bow looking forward with hopeful anticipation. When the time comes for me to put out to sea, I think I shall still be standing in the bow and looking forward with eager interest and glad hopefulness to the new world to which the unknown voyage will take me." - A. Blackwood, The Funeral, p. 24
This is the attitude of faith, of belief in Jesus Christ, regardless of age. Let us pray for peace, strength and comfort for our family up north. And let us give thanks to our heavenly Father, who has called these precious ones on, and who is calling us to carry on, until we are reunited together again, on that glorious morning with Him.
