Middlemarch - Seeing the Cuzzies

Good Friday saw us head off to Sam and Karen's at Middlemarch for some R&R.
The boys loved cruising around the 1/2 acre section.
Grunta didn't enjoy Sam's Motorbike(see photo below).
We went and saw the taieri gorge train, and Caleb entertained the Japanese tourists with his 'Crazy Arms' trick.
Grant limped off with Sarah for a meal at 'The Kissing Gate' cafe, while Karen looked after the boys

More Landscaping

The master plan is coming together. Take the soil moved when making the deck, and use it to create more flat space for shootin' hoops. Retain it so the boys (Grant included) can huck their bikes off the 'jump'.

Weet Bix Tryathlon

Gideon and Grant are still drying out after a trip to the Weetbix Tryathlon in Mosgiel.
They had to be there at 7:30 to get the bike etc into the transition area, and then cruised around, buying a yummy sanitarium breakfast, and Gideon winning an 'up and go' drink in a free sideshow.

As you can see below, the weather was utterly atrocious, so they flagged the swim leg and turned the thing into a Duathlon.

We almost missed Gideons startwhich was scheduled for 10:00, but was broughtforward to about 9:30 due to the hideous weather. We got to the start on time for gideon to get his kit off, and charge after the bunch, catching them at the Bike Transition.
Grunta basically missed Gideons race, thinking that he'd be at the back of the bunch, and was always looking in the wrong place when Gid ran or rode past. Evidently Gideon went out and dominated passing about a hundred kids in the process.

Grant found em at the finish line, wet, cold and satisifed. After a quick swim in the mosgiel pool to warm up we cruised home.

Sir Francis Drake

Take a look at this. It's by Sir Frances Drake, as quoted in an OC Missionary Prayer Letter of Jeanie Curryer, September, 1997.
Drake wrote:"
Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves, when our dreams have come true because we have dreamed too little, when we arrive safely because we have sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we possess, we have lost our thirst for the waters of life; having fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity; and in our efforts to build a new earth, we have allowed our vision of the new Heaven to dim.
Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wider seas where storms will show your mastery; where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; and to push into the future in strength, courage, hope, and love."
